PFC Olguin and Pvt North were assigned to I Company, 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division, when they engaged Japanese forces near Buna, Papua New Guinea. Both soldiers were killed while attempting to establish a roadblock on or around December 2, 1942.
In September 1995, a team from JPAC recovered human remains from two separate burial sites after following a trail of information gathered from locals. Both servicemen were identified on October 26, 2004. |
